What a great pair of hiking boots! The toe box is roomy although the heel fits well enough to keep the foot stable. One of my favorite parts of the design is the grippy gromets at the sides between the foot and the ankle that tether the laces in place so that you can choose different lace tension at the foot and the ankle and there is no slipping. No extra knots to try to isolate the 2 parts! There was zero break in for me. I brought them for the weekend in the high peaks of the Adirondacks, hiked 15 miles with 5000ft of elevation and not a single blister or area of rubbing. Fantastic. They provided enough support on both the accent and the decent scrambling up rocky chimneys and fabulous grip from the soles. I could feel just enough of the rocky trail yet not too much. For the price, the light blue at almost 1/2 off was a steal.***UPDATE***So took these boots to Yellowstone and Grand Teton Parks and hiked 40 miles and 7000 feet in less than a week and they were stars. No blisters. Good in the dry dusty parts, the wet muddy parts, the steep steep trails both up and down, and not one blister or rub anywhere.Sorry I didn't buy 2 while they were on sale.

I was looking for a pair of hiking boots for Kilimanjaro and these are it. I'm a true size 9 and it fits perfectly. I wear liners and a pair of medium wool socks and they work just fine. The support is great around the ankle and the grip on the soles are wonderful. I've hiked in ice, snow, mud, rivers, dirt, paved roads, rocks... and these worked in all sorts of climates. They're waterproof (it really works) and breathable too. The one downside is that while lacing up this weekend, one of the plastic loops cracked. I hope Solomon or the site fixes this for free since they're only 2 1/2 months old and I've only hiked about 10-15 times in them. Hopefully this was only a one time manufacturing defect. That's the only downside to this boot. Otherwise, I'm really happy with them. Also, if you're worried about the blue being too bright--they're not. They're a muted blue and its kind of nice looking after being covered in dirt and mud. I prefer them over my brown Northface hiking boots.

This is my second pair of Solomon Hiking Boots that I own, I have had the first pair for 4 years and they are still going strong, I live in hiking boots and decided to get another pair just because I could, now that I have discovered Solomon Hiking Boots, I wont wear anything else and believe me I have tried a lot of boots. I highly recommend them and I am very tough on my boots and they have not let me down at all.
